Commissions are the opportunity to take you back in time — back to the jubilant moment of your first summit, the comfort of your home away from home.
I hope to take you back to your happiest memories in nature.

Convict Lake
The parameters for this particular project were simple, Convict Lake in the winter and the summer. As a spot I have spent a significant amount of time at on past adventures, I know the landscape well and have painted it from different perspectives numerous times before. Having the artistic liberty to create my own winter ad scene for this one was a joy — the beauty of painting is you do not have to rely on the luck of being there at the perfect time to get the “perfect shot”, instead, with painting you can create the perfect shot.

New Mexico
It’s tough to beat a good sunset, but when you’re watching it from your backyard with a few bison passing by it becomes incredibly more memorable.

Olympic National Park
Sometimes it is the smallest moments that end up being the most memorable… While on their honeymoon exploring the Northwest, they captured a moment in Olympic National Park when the snow first began to fall. There is such a magical stillness to the world as snow falls, one could truly sit and watch it in fascination for hours.
An unexpected but perfect moment and place to celebrate the new chapter of their love story. It was an honor to capture a special memory from your love story on canvas. Happy Anniversary!

We all have a favorite adventure, for me it’s climbing my next mountain — for one special customer it’s finding her next lighthouse to explore. With each new lighthouse adventure, a new painting is created. This is what adventure paintings are all about.
Trinity Alps
There is nothing I love more than painting scenes from a hiking trail. One just never knows what view you’ll get when you set out for a hike in the mountains! For this particular painting, a couple provided me with a collection of photos from a hike they took in the Trinity Alps range in California.

Little Virginia Lake
I hadn’t actually visited this spot when I was commissioned to create the painting, yet somehow it was the reverse process that made this one so special. Months after finishing the painting, I visited Little Virginia Lake for the first time. As I approached the lake, it was as if the mountains were calling out my name, the rustling of leaves hummed a welcoming tune, and the landscape embraced me; it was meeting a dear old friend for the very first time. To paint God’s beauty is to learn every detail of the landscape; it is to study every shape, line and color... it is to embrace every detail that brings the beauty to life. We learn the details of a landscape through painting, but it’s through an adventure that it leaves its’s imprint on our soul. Creating a painting that celebrates generations of a families adventures together in this beautiful place was an incredible privilege that exemplifies all that adventure painting can be.

Man’s Best Friend
Kihei, Maui
We all have that special spot that is our “home away from home”, whether it be the lakeside getaway from the yearly childhood trips with the family, your most hiked mountain range, or the balcony of your favorite vacation spot. It’s rare that we get to visit these special places as often as we’d like, but sometimes it is in the infrequency that allows it to hold such a special place in our soul. This painting was created for the days when all you want to do is get back to that place, kick back, and enjoy the view. We can’t always be there, but a painting can get you a lot closer.
